Project FX Page Two Richard Marek

Moving into the next stage of "Project Speedway" The rear panels have been removed along with the rear doors. Cleaning of the vehicle has commenced with in excess of 40kgs of dirt removed from the boot and interior sections alone. ... The fuel tank was full of contaminated water (approx 40 litres of fuel and water) and drained. Next couple of photos. Gee, I wonder how big these small holes in the floor pan are? Minor detail - let's get back to business. Excess wiring, lining and more dirt removed from the interior. Have already scored another steering column from MANDURAH. Note the floor shift. It's a bushman's version and is home made. The floor shift is welded to a door hinge but still effective. Over the coming weeks, hopefully get the engine removed and get the suspension removed. Stage Three Removal of "U Bolts" Squirt the old rusty nuts and bolts with RP& or CRC. Years of dirt and moisture may seize the old nuts mnaking it difficult to remove. Move to Plan B of your "Wanna get the diff out today Plan". All you require are a pair of Wire Cutters and a 4" Grinder. Diff out, springs in the process of being removed and soon to be taken down the road for Sand or bead blasting. Over the coming weeks I hope to clean the rear section around the diff housing and offer it a lick of paint for protection. Also hope to get the motor out followed by the suspension in readiness for a good clean. Remove brake lines and have them duplicated for replacement. .......
